AddThis was launched by Clearspring in September ’06 and is now considered the number 1 social bookmarking button on the web.
What’s all the fuss about?
By adding the AddThis button to your website, you are allowing your website content to be promoted across the web by letting visitors bookmark your web pages (on social bookmark sites) or by visitors forwarding pages to their friends via email.
Ring any bells with search engine optimisation (SEO) link building strategy?
Whilst this can be achieved without an AddThis button, the whole installation process is child’s play and a far more robust method if you’re not a developer.
You are also given access to analytics via your AddThis account, which includes details on which web pages or feedshave been bookmarked or recommended.
